Fashion Shoot Inspired by French Paintings [My Modern Metropolis]

Fashion Shoot Inspired by French Paintings: "

When Greek designer Mary Katrantzou wanted to show off her fall/winter 2011-2012 clothing collection, she could have been like countless others, placing beautiful models in tropical locations, frolicking around an all-too-pristine beach. Instead, she breathes life into her colorful clothes, made with baroque and allegorical textures, by working with photographer Erik Madigan Heck.

The shoot was inspired by interior paintings of the late 19th century French painters Pierre Bonnard and Edouard Vuillard. Heck’s elaborately customized sets and his digital manipulation really complement and build on Katrantzou’s unique style.
